Biography
Academic and professional qualifications
I completed my fully funded PhD in 2013 at the University of Manchester, which investigated risk and protective factors for behaviour difficulties in children with special education needs and disabilities. I have a MEd Psychology of Education at University of Manchester, and a BSc (Hons) Psychology degree from Coventry University.
Membership of professional associations
I am a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have fellowship status with the Higher Education Academy (FHEA)

I am currently involved on the online course MSc Conversion in Psychology - teaching a unit in Introduction to Educational Psychology.
Research outputs
My research concerns the area of resilience, and how this phenomenon can be investigated from a social ecological perspective. I have investigated resilience with at risk populations in Guatemala (street connected young people, young adults living in high-risk neighbourhoods, and families affected by natural disasters), and within the UK (teachers and children with special educational needs). I have also published in the area of risk and cumulative risk in influencing child and adolescent mental health, and belongingness and how this influences student learning and engagement. I adopt various research methods to my research with a primarily quantitative focus
