Interests and expertise

My research focuses on substance use, mental and psychosocial health, global mental health and co-production/participatory methodologies. 

I supervise PhD and Professional Doctorate students where their topics are relevant to my research interests. Professional background of students are not restricted to nursing; I am happy to supervise other social science researchers, including those with a practice background or have lived experience.

I have also chaired PhD vivas and examined several doctoral theses.

Teaching

Why study…

I have supervised several PhD students to completion. I can supervise a range of thesis topics and methodologies, and have a particular interest in substance use, social exclusion, mental health.

Postgraduate teaching

I am a mental health nurse and health psychologist, teaching across pre-registration nursing, continuing professional development in nursing, speech therapy/psychology, health and social care programmes, and supervising postgraduate studies in health care.
