Why study…

We are all part of a web of complex social networks. Whether that is families, friendships, communities, national and international systems. It has becoming increasingly apparent that a child’s early experiences of these systems influence his or her future in so many different and unexpected ways. This makes the early years and childhood not only a dynamic and fascinating field of study but also one that will help you to understand so much about our lives. If you are interested in working with children and families then a programme such as this will provide you with a meaningful knowledge base on which you can build your career.

Research outputs

I am currently engaged in research with mothers from BAME communities in Manchester who are engaging in the government offer of free childcare for two-year-old children. This is forming the basis for my Doctorate in Early Years.

I am interested in narratives as part of a feminist postcolonial approach to research.
