Biography

I am a tutor on the PGCE programme, working with trainee Social Science postgraduates. I am also a lecturer in Counselling & Clinical Psychology, Developmental Issues in Childhood &Youth and Understanding People.

Projects

I worked with the St James collection of schools in Bolton to provide teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools an insight into how contemporary psychological research can influence their practice. This was a bespoke course, addressing the features of praxis most relevant to thier pedagogy.

I also designed a bespoke course on statistics for Masters students at Riga University’s Creative Industries MA, supporting research conducted in Latvia, assessing the impact of artistic and creative industries on hte wider society and economies in the Baltic states.

My research investigates the factors that influence the extent of student engagement in their course. The affective, behavioural and cognitive aspects of engagement are researched in the context of a neoliberal political environment. I am currently using qualitative research methods to understand what aspects of learning at university are most relevant to undergraduates in a broad context.
