Biography

Academic and professional qualifications

I undertook an MA in Education here at MMU, considering professionalism in undergraduate physiotherapists.  Previuosly, I gained a distinction in an MSc in Rehabilitation at Nottingham University, investigating paediatric lower back problems.

Prizes and awards

I was awarded the MMU Teaching Award for Best Personal Tutor in 2010 and is honoured to have been nominated for three subsequent awards for teaching.

Research outputs

My previous research interests have been mainly focussed around professionalism in undergraduate physiotherapy, both in clinical and university settings. I am interested in how these skills are acquired and how they are displayed and assessed by student health care professionals in practice. My clinical research experience was investigating the causes and prevention of lower back pain problems in adolescents using a survey method.

I am currently interested in the use of augmented reality to enhance teacing and learning in the physiotherapy curriculum.  I am involved in research into undergraduate admissions including the merits of grading systems for UCAS personal statements and interviews and into internationalisation and overseas student admission to physiotherapy programmes.
