My profile

Biography

I gained a first class BEd degree in nursery education in 1992 and a Masters in Education (Dundee) in 1999 followed by a Postgraduate degree in primary education in 2002.

I had worked for 9 years in a variety of Primary settings in Scotland and across all age groups whereby I developed an interest in science teaching and learning. I sat on Sensation (Dundee science centre) teacher forum and organised Science and engineering weeks in my school for two consecutive years. My activities included the mentoring of newly qualified teachers and the introduction of the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence guidelines into science teaching.

In 2011 I joined MMU and took part in lecturing year 1 and 2 science modules and supporting students in school based training - supervising their activities and responding to problems in their professional development. My academic enterprise interests include delivering science education to children with English as a second language.
