1880School of Domestic Science founded, along with colleges in Didsbury, Crewe and Alsager.

1889School of Commerce founded.

1911Former Domestic and Trades College (latterly Hollings College) founded.

1912Cheshire Training College founded.

1996HM The Queen opens Geoffrey Manton building, for Humanities, Languages and Social Science Subjects.

1998The Manchester Writing School founded.

2007Manchester International Festival launched in the city of Manchester.

2011Completion of a full revamp of the Cheshire campus.

2012Award-winning environmentally sustainable Business School and Student Hub opened.

2013Celebrating 175 years of the Manchester School of Art with the opening of iconic new Benzie building.

2014New campus for Education and Health plus new student accommodation opened.

2016Manchester celebrated the Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic athletes at the Heroes Parade. Athletes included Manchester Metropolitan students gold medallists Kadeena Cox and Helen Scott.
