About my career

I am currently an Associate PSP Operations Officer at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency. I oversee the administration, finance, planning, reporting and all HR processes for my department within the Americas Region. I deal with a range of areas that can see me balancing a budget to completing a series of hiring processes for three or four different countries.

I chose Manchester Metropolitan because the material and course structure suited my schedule and commitments at the time. I was also drawn to the learning platform (Moodle) and I really liked all the different support offered to students who were learning online. I chose to study online as I was based in Italy at the time, working full-time and I had a young child. It was the only way!

I loved sharing learnings and knowledge with my fellow students and taking everything I learned back into the workplace!

My top tip for students

I would say that gaining the qualification will open doors for you, but if you don’t set out to knock on those doors nothing will happen! Putting yourself out there once you feel ready for the next challenge is key!

I’m inspired by diversity, equality and inclusion. I am working on the development of an internal podcast about anti-racism.

Why I love Manchester Met

I most loved the people who helped me, picked me up and believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself.
