About my career

Manchester Met is famous in organising its legal study programme in my country which opens the door for me as a mature part-time student. Manchester Met is also an institute highly recommended by most of the legal professionals and lecturers in my country which strengthened my desire to study there.

The economic downturn in 2009 did not give me the chance to easily get a role that I was expecting after graduating with the LPC in 2009. The job that I managed to get after graduation was in  administrative supporting roles in a law firm.

My current role is senior associate at an international organisation that provides services in corporate, private equity, capital markets, real estate and private wealth for clients worldwide. My duties mainly include corporate secretarial matters, handling clients’ queries, advising clients on regulatory updates and legal requirements as well as legal consequences for non-compliance in various jurisdictions.

The legal studies course trained me up to think logically and in how to apply analytical skills in all kinds of scenarios in my work life. The skills that I acquired benefit me a great deal in my career.

I also did a masters programme in corporate governance, which earned me the additional qualification to become a chartered secretary.

My top tip for students

My top tip for students when looking for a graduate job is to follow your areas of interest. Trial and error do occur all the times. Do not follow the trend for the kind of job as commonly desired among your social peers. Success will not come tomorrow unless you start today.

I’m inspired by

I am inspired by many professionals in my work life who make me understand learning is a lifelong journey. Education is the greatest asset in one’s achievement that no one would be able to take away. Being hardworking is the key to success.

What I loved about my time at Manchester Met

Manchester Met provided the greatest teaching resources of its programme to students, as well as the teaching materials and knowledge and teaching skills from the lecturers.
