ABOUT MY CAREER

Studying at Manchester Metropolitan University was one of the best choices I have made in my life. With almost twenty years of experience in HR within Global Banks and Multi-National Companies, I made the decision to pursue an MSc in International Human Resource Management. This choice allowed me to systematically organise my HR knowledge in a formal way.

My experience with the programme was incredibly enriching, and I thoroughly enjoyed the learning curriculum. As an HR practitioner, I am always seeking new learning opportunities to strengthen my professional knowledge, enhance my experiences, and make a significant impact on key stakeholders and communities. The education I received at Manchester Met proved beneficial in this regard.

Upon graduating from Manchester Met, an exciting career opportunity presented itself – an overseas assignment at Standard Chartered Bank Poland. This experience offered me the chance to diversify my career by engaging with various aspects of HR. I am now the Lead Practitioner of People Capability at Standard Chartered Bank Vietnam. I am thankful for the knowledge I have obtained from Manchester Met; it has helped strengthen my confidence and encouraged me push myself to move forward.

I am pleased to share that I have successfully upgraded my CIPD qualification to Chartered CIPD Level as of May 2023. This achievement stands as a testament to my ongoing commitment to professional growth and development.

MY TOP TIP FOR STUDENTS IS

  • Be open-minded and always go the extra mile to learn and improve.

  • Believe in yourself - you are more powerful than you think.

  • Ask for support – you are not alone in the learning journey. Try to maximise networking with classmates and alumni.

I’M INSPIRED BY

I am inspired by Oprah Winfrey, with her simple lessons of knowing who you are, service and always doing the right thing.

WHY I LOVE MANCHESTER MET

I had a very special experience at Manchester Met. I am very grateful for all the support I received from tutors, supervisors, and friends to bring me an unforgettable time.

My most incredible experience with Manchester Met was attending the graduation award ceremony at Bridgewater Hall in July, together with my beloved mom and wife. It is a long journey from Vietnam to the UK, but it was worth it for all happy moments.
