ABOUT MY CAREER

After deciding to study International Business Management, I researched various universities and was immediately captivated by the exceptional business school at Manchester Metropolitan University. During my first visit, I fell in love with the city and all it had to offer. This made the decision to enrol a no-brainer.

My first job after graduating was as a Service Analyst at MHR before joining their Graduate Scheme. I knew the scheme didn’t begin until September and I wanted a job before then, so I applied for this role to allow myself to gain a better understanding of the business that I was looking to build my long-term career in.

I am currently enrolled on MHR’s Graduate Management Scheme and have a whole host of responsibilities. I spend most of my time rotating around different departments in the business, networking and gaining a deep understanding of how each function works. I’m also given the privilege of being involved in the business’ sustainability strategy, as well as taking part in research projects, internal auditing, and CSR initiatives.

The soft skills I gained at Manchester Met such as communication and presentation skills have really helped me in my career so far. These skills have empowered me to initiate conversations with people and present to senior stakeholders, both of which I do regularly in my current role.

I’m lucky enough to have a dedicated Internal Training Team where I work that offer a huge range of courses. I’ve been on Mental Health Awareness, Managing Project Teams, and Effective Time Management courses to name a few.

MY TOP TIP FOR STUDENTS IS

Perseverance is key! Applying for jobs can be tiresome and knock your confidence massively, you just have to keep applying and giving each application your best effort. When the time and job is right, you’ll get the opportunity that’s right for you.

I’M INSPIRED BY

I am inspired by people who radiate positivity. They motivate, uplift, and encourage those around them with their energy which I love. People who can always see the light in a dark situation are good people to be around.

WHY I LOVE MANCHESTER MET

I appreciated my lecturers the most as they had the ability to host engaging seminars and tutorials, ensuring an enriching learning experience all the way through my course.
