The BA (Hons) Business Management Professional programme has been designed in collaboration with the Chartered Management Institute, and regional and national employers, whose apprentices are already benefitting from a graduate-level management education.
Experienced industry practitioners from across the University have also designed optional pathways focusing on the specialist skills and competencies required to effectively manage in industry sectors, including Hospitality, Retail and Fashion.
Integrating academic learning and on-the-job practical training enables apprentices to develop as confident, capable and independent Chartered Managers (CMgr), the industry gold standard.
Chartered Manager Degree Apprentices will learn all the fundamental knowledge required to become successful managers within your organisation. The Degree Apprenticeship includes part-time study over a period of four years, on-site at Manchester Metropolitan University. The programme is delivered through block teaching equivalent to 25 university days per year. The learning is organised in such a way to minimise disruption to your work schedule.
Apprentices are full-time members of staff, who will utilise their new knowledge and skills to make an impact for their employer. Apprentices will need to be supported by a supervisor in the workplace and there will be regular reviews of progress, conducted by Manchester Met staff.
We are able to offer a customised programme to meet employer requirements, dependent on enrolling specified minimum numbers, so please contact us to discuss your preferred delivery model.
All successful apprentices will receive a BA (Hons) Business Management Professional, a fully accredited degree awarded by Manchester Metropolitan University and a CMI Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership, which is provided at no additional cost.
The final degree will also reflect the sector specific expertise of apprentices, for example BA (Hons) Business Management Professional in Hospitality.
Candidates for the Degree Apprenticeship should have a minimum of 104-112 points at A2 (Grades BCC) or an equivalent e.g. BTEC DMM. They will also require Maths and English Language GCSE grade A*-C. We will individually evaluate candidates who do not meet these requirements, but have workplace experience.

The Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship is a great option for people who are leaving school or college who would like to work in a business management or operational role, and have the capability and motivation to study part time for a degree at the same time as working.
The Degree Apprenticeship is also a great option for people already working in business management or operational role, who are looking to broaden their academic knowledge with the support of their employer.
Your role will be to extend the learning beyond the classroom, by giving apprentices a varied work programme, which allows them the opportunity to turn theory into practice, develop skills relevant to your organisation and achieve outputs with real business value. Apprentices are employees and as such are subject to the usual terms of employment. Apprentices are protected by a national minimum wage.
However, in order to attract good quality candidates we recommend you offer a salary in excess of £12,000 per year. You will also need to provide a mentor who will oversee the work and coordinate projects and learning with the university tutor.
There are no age restrictions and no difference in funding according to age, except for your eligibility for certain incentive payments. Candidates who already have a degree-level qualification should be eligible as long as their existing qualifications are materially different from the course material.
