Assessment

You are also encouraged to conduct research into your own organisation, so that you can contextualise your learning in the classroom. The MBA Degree Apprenticeship includes a range of assessment types, from essays to group or individual presentations, and business reports.

Masters Business Portfolio

This blended unit will ensure that you can effectively capture the knowledge, skills and behaviours developed on the programme in a single cumulative portfolio directly contributing to the End Point Assessment.  Commencing from day one and running throughout the programme, this unit supports you to reflect, plan and evaluate your development. A university team member will also conduct periodic visits at your workplace to assess how you are applying your personal and academic learning to your job role.

Dissertation

The MBA dissertation research project can be an enterprise project, business consultancy project, or an empirical dissertation. The dissertation must be applied to your own organisation to satisfy the assessment criteria. The project will be a combination of thorough research methods and will be a substantial piece of work of approximately 15,000 words, which will address a business research issue. Through this project, you will be able to draw upon the different strands of learning throughout the programme.

End Point Assessment

The End Point Assessment for the programme will include the presentation of the dissertation and an independent professional discussion to review the completed portfolio.

Programme Delivery

The course is taught over 24 months and includes eight compulsory 15 credit units, as well as a substantial 60 credit work-based dissertation. Each unit is delivered in a three-day block, during which, you will benefit from the latest academic and practitioner thinking presented by University staff and industry guest speakers.

In addition to the taught element of the programme, there are two residential weekends over the two-years and an optional international study trip (not covered by apprenticeship funding). You will also be allocated an executive business coach and receive six sessions throughout the programme.
