We provide accommodation to over 5,000 students! When you add up waste, electricity and water - it has a Big Impact!
We’re all about recycling here at Manchester Met, so before you trash it – check to see if it can be recycled. Manchester Met has committed to reusing or recycling 60% of all our waste by 2020. We closely with your Residential Advisors throughout the year to help you live more sustainably.
If you are living in university owned student accommodation, you will have an opportunity to win prizes for your recycling efforts.
The Environment Team and Residential Advisors will visit you once a term to look in your bins! We will mark your efforts and leave you with some feedback on how you can do better. Cinema tickets will be awarded to the best flat in each hall, winning flats will then be entered in to a prize draw to win £300 (divided equally between residents paid on to Met Cards)!
You can recycle all of your food waste in the small brown bins provided in your kitchen. Use ANY type of plastic bag in the caddie then take this out to the food wheelie in bin stores or courtyards.
Please use ONLY clear plastic bin liners which are provided free of charge from your Student Living Reception. Please empty recycling out of bin liners into large recycling bins in your bin store. Bin liners cannot be recycled and need to be put in Non-Recyclable Waste (Black Bin).
Give it, don't bin it is a student move-out collection and recycling campaign. Donate your clothes, books, electricals and unopened, non-perishable food to charity to help those in need.
We currently support the British Heart Foundation and Manchester Central Foodbank.
