Manchester Met hosts Greater Manchester Business Mayoral Hustings

In May 2017, Greater Manchester will be electing its first ever directly elected Mayor. Given the powers the Mayor will have, the economy and job creation will be a key part of any future programme.
At 6.30pm on 30th March 2017 Manchester Metropolitan University Business School will be hosting the Greater Manchester Business Hustings for Mayoral candidates, in partnership with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW).
Professor Malcolm Press, Vice-Chancellor of the University, said: “We’re delighted to host this event and work with colleagues from Greater Manchester’s business community to create an opportunity to question the candidates directly on their strategy to facilitate the growth of the region’s economy and what they will do for business.”

Representatives from the following parties have confirmed their attendance:

• Conservative – Sean Anstee
• English Democrat – Stephen Morris
• Labour – Andy Burnham
• Liberal Democrat – Jane Brophy
• UKIP – Shneur Odze

The event will feature a ballot of the audience at the beginning, which will be counted immediately, and a second ballot after all candidates have spoken and answered questions. In this way, we can see whether attendees have changed their minds.

The Greater Manchester Hustings event will be held on the evening of 30th March 2017 at Manchester Metropolitan Business School. We encourage you to attend this event and make the most of this opportunity to quiz and compare your candidates for Mayor of Greater Manchester. After all, they will work for you.
