Professional development is central to the Business School’s mission and most of our degree programmes carry accreditations or exemptions from professional bodies.

The extent of our accreditations is reflected in the practical and applied nature of our curriculum and fosters innovation in our approach to business and management education.

The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB)

Manchester Metropolitan Business School is an accredited member of AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. As the world’s largest business education alliance, AACSB International connects educators, students, and business to achieve a common goal: to create the next generation of great leaders. This places us among an elite group of global business schools who have gained this accreditation, of which there are only currently 30 accredited schools of its kind in the UK* and means your degree is internationally recognised.

Manchester Met Business School has held AACSB accreditation since March 2016.

The standards of education delivered at Manchester Met Business School have been rigorously assessed, approved and accredited by AACSB International. This means that the level of education you receive is of the highest quality, shared with an elite group of business schools worldwide who hold this accreditation.

Graduates from AACSB-accredited school are highly skilled and are more attractive to employers than those from other non-accredited schools. Each year, we have over 1,500 students graduate from our business programmes and enter the professions or undertake further study.

The Association of MBAs (AMBA)


The Association of MBAs is the global kite mark for high quality MBAs and postgraduate qualifications. The Association fosters innovation in curriculum, teaching and student experience to global standards.

Our MBA programmes are fully accredited by AMBA which means they have been rigorously assessed to ensure the quality of the teaching on our MBA is of the highest quality. The accreditation also means that Manchester Met MBA graduates have access to the North West AMBA alumni network, providing excellent networking opportunities with other MBA alumni across the region. 

The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)


The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is globally recognised in 181 countries and their professional accounting qualification aims to fully develop students with solid accountancy, finance and business skills.

ACCA has granted us approval for the delivery of the ACCA professional stage with the highest platinum rating. We offer both full-time and part-time routes for the ACCA qualification.

The Association for Project Management (APM)


‌The Association for Project Management is the leading UK body for project managers. The APM accredits two units on our MSc Project Management programme, which means that graduates from this Masters can gain exemptions.

We are also a corporate member of APM and share the Association’s aims to develop and promote the project management profession. We have integrated all sections of the APM Body of Knowledge into our project management course. Project Management is also an elective unit open to certain students within the Business School in the final year of their associated undergraduate degrees. Staff regularly engage with APM activities such as conferences and workshops in the UK, including hosting APM events at the business school. 

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)


The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport is an international association that connects professionals working in all forms of logistics and transport professions.  This includes freight, logistics and supply chain, travel planning, aviation, bus, rail and maritime. 

Our MSc Logistics and Supply Chain programme is fully accredited by CILT, meaning that students who graduate successfully from this course are exempt from the academic requirements for membership of the CILT. Members of the organisation are also invited onto campus to speak to current students about career opportunities and sector developments as part of our Masters programme.

The Chartered Institute of Marketing


‌The Chartered Institute of Marketing is the leading association for professionals working in marketing and the creative industries. With a wide member network across the UK, the Institute facilitates professional standards for marketers and provides a range of professional marketing qualifications.

We have a long-standing relationship with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, who fully accredit our marketing programmes. These include our undergraduate degrees in Advertising and Brand Management, Marketing Management, Marketing and Public Relations, and Retail Management and Marketing.  CIM also accredit our Masters courses in Marketing, Marketing Communications and Creative Advertising.

Our students, alumni and staff are active members of the Chartered Institute of Marketing North West branch and we regularly host CIM member events on campus. 

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)

The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants offers professional training for aspiring and qualified management accountants. CIMA also provides management qualifications and training, and is a globally recognised qualification.

Our Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics has a long-standing relationship with CIMA, with many staff being CIMA examiners and part of the examination team.

We offer two dedicated degree qualifications for CIMA members, an undergraduate degree in BA (Hons) Sustainable Performance Management, and a Masters in Strategic Business Management. Both are delivered online and on-campus to CIMA members around the globe.

The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)


‌The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development is the professional body for Human Resources and people development. There are over 130,000 members internationally – working in HR, learning and development, people management and consulting across private businesses and organisations in the public and voluntary sectors.

Manchester Met Business School is a CIPD Approved Centre. This means that students enrolling on our HRM undergraduate and postgraduate courses are eligible to join the CIPD as student members.

On successful completion of our HR programmes, students will benefit from graduating with an internationally recognised qualification and will also be eligible for consideration for CIPD membership. CIPD approved qualifications are highly valued and widely accepted as a requirement of practice by employers throughout the UK and increasingly abroad.

Staff from across the Faculty are also engaged with the CIPD through our Centre for People and Performance and are actively involved through membership, fellowship, research and consultancy.

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR)

The Chartered Institute of Public Relations is the UK’s leading body for PR professionals and connects a wide network of public relations and communications practitioners. CIPR provides a range of professional development, training and CPD.

Our undergraduate BA (Hons) Public Relations and Marketing degree, alongside our MSc Public Relations are fully recognised by the CIPR. These degrees carry exemptions for the Institute’s professional qualifications. Additionally, our MSc Public Relations and Media Management programme offers advanced standing for those who already hold a CIPR Diploma in Public Relations.

Staff from the Department of Marketing, Operations and Digital Business are active members of the CIPR, often engaging our students with CIPR members through guest lectures, live client projects and consultancy activities.

The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS)


The Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply is a global body for those who work in purchasing and supply chain industries. The Institute brings together best practice, governance and qualifications for purchasing and supply chain professionals.

The Institute accredits our MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management course, allowing graduates who meet the conditions specified to apply for MCIPS, the globally recognised standard for procurement and supply management professionals. Students on this course can also apply for membership of the CIPS during their studies.

Staff from our Marketing, Operations and Digital Business Department share links with CIPS through research, knowledge exchange and teaching.

The Chartered Management Institute (CMI)

The Chartered Management Institute is the professional body for managers and provides a range of resources, training and skills development in management and leadership.

Staff from across the Faculty are practising CMI members, and as a business school, we enjoy excellent links with the CMI through guest speakers, master classes, member events and employer engagement with our students through CMI member organisations.

The CMI is linked to a number of our programmes through unit-level or programme-level accreditation. This includes our undergraduate programmes in business and management, our postgraduate HR Management and MBA programmes.

Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)


The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales is one of the leading accountancy bodies in the UK. Members of this body must complete 450 days of accountancy practice and pass a series of examinations.

Our Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics maintains a lengthy relationship with the ICAEW, with many staff from the Department acting in advisory or committee-level roles to the ICAEW Manchester network. Many staff are also ICAEW qualified and active in the Institute through research, consultancy and knowledge exchange. 

Our undergraduate finance and accountancy degrees carry exemptions for ICEAW professional examinations, allowing our students to gain Chartered Accountant status, recognised by ICAEW in a much shorter period.

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS)


The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland is the professional body for chartered accountants practising in Scotland.

Our undergraduate degree in accounting and finance is accredited by ICAS which means students graduating in this degree can be eligible for up to five exemptions from ICAS CA qualification.

The Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM)


The Institute of Leadership and Management offers a range of qualifications, including coaching and mentoring awards to help develop managers and leaders. As an Approved Centre for the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM), our teaching in management and leadership has been recognised by the Institute. This means our students can benefit from membership of the Institute.

Some of our programmes in management, such as the Certificate in Professional Studies: Management and Leadership, share dual links with the ILM, where our students may gain additional, professional-level awards as part of their degree.

The Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs (IOEE)


The Institute of Enterprise and Entrepreneurs has recognised us as a Centre of Excellence for entrepreneurial teaching and learning.

The BA (Hons) Business Management and M Business degrees within the Business School are recognised by the IOEE for the inclusion of effective enterprise and entrepreneurship skills development. Students on these programmes can become student members of the Institute. In addition, the IOEE accredits enterprise units at Levels 4, 5 and 6. IOEE accredited units are available to MBus (Hons) Business, BA (Hons) Business Management, BA (Hons) International Business Management, and BA (Hons) Combined Honours Business Enterprise students. Those registered for an IOEE accredited qualification can become student members of the Institute.

The Institute of Place Management (IPM)


The Institute of Place Management was formed at Manchester Metropolitan University and brings together thought leaders and researchers in the areas of place management, town centre development, tourism and urban and rural place development.

The Institute forms a key research function for the Faculty of Business and Law, with Professors from the Faculty leading on international research projects, advising on policy and growing the body of knowledge and governance in the areas of place management.

The Institute accredits our unique MSc Place Management and Leadership.
