Clothing line George at Asda has launched a Foundation Degree in Retail at Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, adding to a portfolio of brands that includes Tesco, McDonalds and Booths.
The two-year Foundation Degree will include 28 hours of learning each week, split between work-based assessment, peer networking and reflection and online study, with the opportunity to study for a full BA Honours qualification.
Nurturing retail talent
Steve Bainbridge, Director of the Retail Enterprise Network at MMU, said: “This is a really exciting initiative that is helping to push the boundaries of UK graduate education.
“We look forward to working with George to help nurture and develop the next generation of retail talent.”
Identifying future business leaders
Four successful college-leavers will have the chance to study at MMU from September, while taking up salaried positions at George’s head office in Leicester.
Caroline Massingham, People Director at Asda, said: “I am proud and very excited that the George Clothing Business is working harder than ever to support Britain's youth at a time when many employers are cutting back or reducing graduate schemes.”
George hopes the ‘learn while you earn’ programme will help identify and develop their future business leaders.
