Our MBA Course

At Manchester Met, our MBA programme will teach you all the skills you need to move to the next level of your business career. Our engaging course can be tailored to suit your goals, with a choice of modules available in the latter part of the course.

Course Structure

The course is taught over 24 months, with intakes in October and January.

Each unit is taught in a three-day block on campus.  During these three day blocks you will receive the latest academic and practitioner thinking presented by University staff and industry guest speakers and masterclasses.  In addition to the taught element of the programme you will have two residential weekends over the two year period and a week international study trip.  Finally, in relation to your unit - Reflective Personal Leadership,  you will be allocated an executive business coach and receive six one hour sessions over the year.

Modules

You will require 180 credits to pass your MBA. This is achieved through a series of seven core units and one online elective chosen by you, followed by a final dissertation. A detailed breakdown of the course can be found below.

Phase 1

Phase 2

Choose one elective from either the Marketing, Operations and Digital Business department; the Management department or the Accountancy, Finance and Economics department. This elective will be taught online to give you a blended learning experience and further flexibility to your working life and study.

• Financial Management of Reorganisations, Mergers and Acquisitions
• Strategy for Integrated Communications
• Acquisition for Paid & Organic Channels

Phase 3

The final third of your credits is earned with a dissertation. This will demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have acquired throughout the course.

Dissertation (60 credits)

The MBA dissertation research project can be an enterprise project, business consultancy, or an empirical dissertation. Your project will be a combination of thorough research methods and will be a substantial piece of work of approximately 15,000 words, which will address a business research issue of your choice. If you are on one of the specialist pathways your dissertation will be based on an area that is relevant to that industry. Through this project, you will be able to draw upon the different strands of learning throughout.
