Get a mentor in industry and receive information and advice to support you with making decisions about your future.

What is Mentor Me?

Mentor Me is a programme which gives you the opportunity to benefit from contact with a working professional.

They will act as your mentor, providing you with a valuable opportunity to gain an insight into the world of work, learning from the experience and knowledge of your mentor.

Your mentor can also help you explore your career options and the steps required to achieve your career goals.

What is involved?

A mentoring relationship is built on mutual respect, trust, encouragement, constructive feedback, openness and a willingness to learn and share.

There is no prescribed minimum contact time between you and your mentor, the level of engagement is down to you and your mentor to agree.

Contact may be face-to-face, telephone, Skype, email or whatever means works best for you both.

How do I get a mentor?

The programme runs over the academic year, from October to May and is open to all Manchester Metropolitan University students who have completed their first year of undergraduate study.

Undergraduate students should apply at the end of their first year of study, ready to join the programme in year two.

Postgraduate taught and postgraduate research programmes of study are also eligible to apply for a mentor.

How do I apply?

The Mentor Me programme requires commitment from both you and your mentor.

To benefit from this programme you need to submit an application between 1 April and 31 August.

This ensures that we are able to manage participation and ensure that we are able to match you with a suitable mentor.

Your application should demonstrate your motivation and commitment to the programme.
