“The student ambassador scheme has helped me work on my communication skills and come out of my shell. It has given me a wide variety of skills and experiences and has really helped me become more versatile when it comes to thinking about how I fit into a team. I like the flexibility and the relaxed nature of the role, it means that I can balance work with my busy academic schedule.”
Second year student, BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology
“Being a student ambassador gives me a feeling of being a useful member of the university and the student community. It has given me more knowledge about the university and the course and facilities available that have benefitted my own studies. I enjoy talking to prospective students and the role gives me personal satisfaction of sharing my knowledge and experience with students who’s shoes I was in only a couple of years ago.”
If you have substantial experience working as a Student Ambassador, then why not apply to become a Senior Student Ambassador.
We are looking for students who are passionate about their role as a Student Ambassador, their subject, Manchester Met, Higher Education and university life and are looking to share their experiences with prospective students, parents, teachers and advisers.
As a Senior Student Ambassador, you will be the face of Manchester Met, supporting the University’s core recruitment activities off campus such as Higher Education Fairs in schools and colleges and UCAS Exhibitions around the country. You may also be required to deliver presentations about topics including Student Life.
This is a casual role, offering the flexibility to work around your studies. You must be prepared to travel long distances in order to attend events and, in some cases, overnight stays might be required. We will cover all expenses incurred for travel and hotel stays and you will be paid a senior rate of £9.46 per hour.
If you would like further information about the role and how to apply, please email the Post-16 Outreach Team on email@example.com.
Third year student, BA (Hons) English
“Becoming a Senior Student Ambassador allowed me to build on the confidence I gained through the original ambassador role in a more challenging, but equally rewarding environment. Visiting colleges and other universities, I get to meet potential university students and promote Manchester Met and university life in general. I love being able to share my own experiences knowing how nerve-wracking the decision making process can be! You are given all the information needed about each Manchester Met course in a training session. Although at first it seems a lot to take in, you are provided with Manchester Met mini guides on the day of the shift that give you all basic information you will need to know.”
