Biography

Dr Yakubu Tsado is a Lecturer in Cyber Security and Smart Grid in the Department of Computing and Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. Yakubu received a B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering from the Federal University of Technology Minna, Nigeria, an M.Sc. degree in Communication Engineering & Digital Signal Processing from Lancaster University, U.K., and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering (Smart Grid) from the same University. He was a recipient of the Centre for Global Eco-Innovation (CGE) Ph.D. Scholarship at Lancaster University. Yakubu has held post-doctoral positions at the Durham University, UK, and Manchester Metropolitan University, UK where he was a research investigator on several projects including the €3.7M Horizon 2020-SmarterEMC2 Project, the €30M Smart City (Triangulum) project, and the £600k NICE (Nigerian Intelligent Clean Energy Marketplace) project.

Yakubu’s research interest includes communication networks, smart grids, smart microgrids, the Internet of Things, AI & Machine learning for energy systems. Specifically, he is investigating the role of digital models such as real-time monitoring systems, cyber-physical systems and digital twins for cyber security in critical infrastructures.
