The Manchester Writing School at Manchester Met and the International Anthony Burgess Foundation are delighted to present Helen Mort and Rachel Genn.
Helen Mort was born in Sheffield. Her first collection Division Street was shortlisted for the Costa Prize and the T.S. Eliot Prize. In 2014, she won the Fenton Aldeburgh Prize. Her collection No Map Could Show Them (Chatto & Windus) is a Poetry Book Society Recommendation. She writes a blog called 'Freefall' and is also a runner and the author of The Lake District Trail.
Rachel Genn is a doctor of neuroscience by training, and before beginning to write fiction seriously in 2005, she worked at Kings College London, The Maudsley, and was a Royal Society Fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. She completed the Sheffield Hallam Creative Writing MA in 2006. The Cure is her first novel and she is the creator of the National Facility for the Regulation of Regret.
Helen Mort and Rachel Genn joined the Manchester Writing School as Lecturers in Creative Writing in September 2016.
Manchester Writing is a series which explores the techniques authors use and choices they make when writing, and debate issues arising from their work. Drinks will be available to purchase from the bar, and there’ll be a special Blackwell’s bookstall, with signing after the event.
