"I would encourage you to take advantage of all the extra-curricular activities the University has available"
What do you like most about your course?

English allows students such as myself to explore a variety of areas ranging from the 19th Century to the present. The course allows me to further my understanding of not only historical contexts, but also relevant, present day topics such as American politics.

What skills do you feel you have gained during your studies at Man Met?

I feel that the course itself and the University in general has certainly developed my confidence, especially with presentation skills. This is an essential skill required for any job and can usually be quite nerve-racking. Incorporating presentations into the course has definitely helped me get used to the idea of speaking in front of others.

Have you taken part in any extracurricular activities or projects alongside your studies?

I am a student ambassador for the university, which not only allows me to earn money, but is also adding valuable experience to my CV. I am able to speak to potential students and share my experiences with them. I found this really helpful in building my confidence as well as it being catered around study time.

What is your top tip for other students looking to study this course at Manchester Metropolitan University?

My top tip would be to get involved in all aspects of University life whilst you have the most free time. You will find that your workload will pick up in second and third year, so I would encourage you to take advantage of all the extra-curricular activities the University has available.

'I’m inspired by…

…the people I have met through the University, especially the tutors and lecturers who work endlessly to provide new opportunities for students like myself. I cannot fault the knowledge and advice they offer.

In one sentence, please describe what you love most about Man Met:

The opportunities it gives to students - whether it be inside or outside the classroom.
