Academic and professional qualifications

My teaching duties are across a number of programmes within the Department from Level 4 through to Masters level, with expertise in the field of fashion marketing, fashion promotion and the fashion retail environment. I also have year tutor responsibility and supervises at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Previous Employment

Before joining the University, I worked for several companies in marketing and public relations roles. She was able to put her undergraduate marketing degree into practice and the scope of her background ranges from fashion to children’s licensed products. Experience was enhanced by being an integral part of numerous brand teams; organising press events; generating press coverage and promoting the brand/company in general at various events. My love of fashion and marketing background was the perfect blend to join MMU in 2005 to undertake a PhD and begin her teaching career.

Projects and initiatives

I am a member of the Faculty China Exhibition Group. In June 2012, the group exhibited in Guangzhou in order to profile the Faculty and the excellent work that is undertaken by staff members and students. The exhibition was a huge success and planning will be underway shortly for the next event.

Research

Research Interests

My research interests focus on fast fashion, promotion, supply chain management and the fashion retail environment. For my MRes, I am looking at the effect that fast fashion has had on the promotional mix in the UK. The fashion industry has been revolutionised by this business strategy and promotion of fashion garments has been greatly affected. Being research active allows me to deliver research informed teaching to my students.
