About us

Applying our expertise to the real world

The Department of Health Professions, covering food and nutrition, medicine, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy, holds a wealth of expertise.

Our teaching staff maintain strong links with colleagues in clinical practice and research, ensuring our curriculum is influenced by the latest research.

Learning in practice

We are also one of the leaders in the North West in the development of interprofessional education (IPE) on clinical placement for our students.

Our physiotherapy staff and students apply their expertise at the Manchester Movement Unit - our in-house physiotherapy clinic in Brooks building.

Our food and nutrition team also support our award-winning, student-led social enterprise, MetMUnch, which focuses on nutrition, sustainability and wellbeing.

I'm proud of our academic staff, who are committed to delivering innovative teaching to enhance learning. I am also proud of the provision of high-quality placements and work-based learning opportunities. This plays a significant part in our students' success in securing graduate level employment at the end of their course.
