Nutrition is a contemporary issue, and the connection between diet and health is becoming increasingly important.

The diet of the population is key to preventing illnesses including diabetes, heart disease and cancer and this course aims to help solves some of these contemporary issues.

The knowledge and skills that you will gain on BSc (Hons) Nutritional Sciences,‌ with our option unit system, will prepare you to pursue a career in nutrition, public health, health promotion or food product development. Our recent multi-million pound investment has created fantastic facilities located at the University's Manchester campus, we have a range of pilot-scale food manufacturing equipment, chemistry and microbiology laboratories, a taste panel suite, product development kitchen, a bakery and food testing equipment. Technology and creativity are at the heart of the student experience, with a major emphasis on developing your business and employable skills.

Our Nutritional Sciences course is also accredited by the Association for Nutrition meaning graduates have the right to apply for direct entry at Associate level to the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists

Students can opt for an additional placement year and with the department’s strong relationships with industry, this gives our students the opportunity to make contacts and gain experience in a competitive job market.
