Manchester Metropolitan University has published its plans for the second phase of the new Science and Engineering facilities and public realm development.

The proposed development includes external alterations to the John Dalton Central building and the demolition of part of the John Dalton East building.

All of the proposed works are located within the University’s existing campus, and will improve the appearance of the existing building to reflect the high-quality design of the new Science and Engineering building.

Members of the public, staff and students can find out more about the second phase of the works and provide feedback. The University project team will then finalise the planning application for Manchester City Council (MCC).

It follows on from phase one, when MCC granted planning permission for a new Science and Engineering building on the site which is currently occupied by the John Dalton West building and associated car parking and servicing areas.

Phase one proposals underwent a public consultation in late 2019. The University is in the process of selecting a contractor for phase one and expects that building work will begin in early 2021, with the new Science and Engineering building completed in 2024.

More information and contact details for phase two plans can be found here. The phase one Science and Engineering development plans can be found here.
