About the Midland Hotel

The Midland Hotel has been a much-loved part of Manchester’s life for more than 118 years.

Registration, robing and photography all take place at the hotel which is a short walk from The Bridgewater Hall.

Opening times

If you are graduating, you must arrive between the times stated for your ceremony and go first to the registration area where you will be given your seat allocation card and guest tickets. You will then be directed towards the robing room. To minimise queuing, we ask that guests do not enter the registration or robing areas.

Once you have collected your tickets and robes, and, if applicable, had photos taken, please go to The Bridgewater Hall to be seatedno later than 45 minutes before your ceremony starts. If you are waiting for guests to arrive, you can leave their tickets with Manchester Met staff in The Bridgewater Hall foyer for them to collect. 

Registration

8:00am - 5:30pm – graduates only. Registration will close at 2pm on 25 July.

Robing room

8:00am - 9:00pm – graduates only. Robe return will close at 5.30pm on 25 July.

Photography room

8:00am - 9:00pm (last entry 8:30pm) – graduates and up to eight guests. Please note, guest tickets are not required to enter the photography room but are needed for those who wish to attend the ceremony itself. Photography will close at 5:30pm (last entry 5:00pm) on 25 July.

  • Getting there by public transport

    The nearest train stations to The Midland Hotel are Manchester Oxford Road (200 metres) and Manchester Piccadilly (1km). For train times and journey planning please visit National Rail Enquiries.

    The main station for national services is Manchester Piccadilly, which is linked to the hotel by the Metrolink tram (on the Eccles, Altrincham, Manchester Airport and East Didsbury lines - tram stop: St Peter’s Square) and by the Metroshuttle free bus. Or you can take a short walk. 

    Metrolink runs across the city centre and Greater Manchester. Services include those to and from Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Victoria, and Manchester International Airport. For timetables and journey planning please visit Travel by tram

    Manchester has a free Metroshuttle bus which links the main train stations, car parks, shopping areas and hotel around the city centre. It runs at least every ten minutes.     From the South

    From the M6 junction 19 join the M56. Follow signs for the city centre (A5103), then for the Manchester Central Convention Complex/Bridgewater Hall onto Medlock Street. Go through the lights onto Lower Mosley Street. Pass Bridgewater Hall on your right and the rear of the hotel is facing you. 

    From the North

    From the M6, join the M61 at Preston. Follow signs for M60 south and west towards the Trafford Centre. Then follow signs for the Manchester Central Convention Complex/Bridgewater Hall onto Medlock Street. Go through the lights onto Lower Mosley Street. Pass The Bridgewater Hall on your right and the rear of the hotel is facing you.

    Seven disabled parking bays are available across the road from the main entrance of the hotel on Mount Street, which are free for Blue Badge holders.
