2017 Rosamond Prize Concert and Prize-Giving

28 April 2017

Start time: 19:30

Venue: Royal Northern College of Music, 124 Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9RD

The 2017 Rosamond Prize concert and prize-giving will take place on Friday 28th April at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM). The concert will begin at 7.30pm. All are welcome, entry is free and booking is not required.

The Rosamond Prize is the Manchester Writing School’s annual collaborative project with the Royal Northern College of Music and takes its name from the street that runs between the two institutions. The prize brings together Manchester Met’s MFA and MA poetry students with the RNCM’s composers, with the aim of forming collaborative partnerships. Each of these partnerships, established at a special showcase and networking event, work towards producing short collaborative musical pieces which are performed in concert. One piece is selected by a panel of expert judges and awarded that year's "Rosamond Prize".

Past years have produced some outstanding work, and a number of the partnerships have gone on to produce further pieces - including full-length musicals - beyond the competition. The prize was devised by the Manchester Writing School's Professor of Poetry Michael Symmons Roberts and the Royal Northern College of Music's Head of Composition Adam Gorb.
