There are some exciting changes taking place at the University at the moment as part of our journey to become even more successful.
As a University we are moving forward, making great leaps in the League Tables and harnessing our areas of strength for future development. As part of this journey, departments that are currently in Hollings will join other faculties.
The Department of Apparel will join the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and become part of the exciting new Manchester Fashion Institute, which will be led by Hollings’ current Dean, Colin Renfrew. Manchester is renowned for its fashion history, and the subject as taught at Manchester Met has been the recipient of numerous awards and accolades.
Many of our students in Tourism, Events and Hospitality Management go on to do great things in the world of business, so we are happy to announce that the department will form a new school within the Faculty of Business and Law – the School of Tourism, Events and Hospitality Management, which will be led by current Acting Head of Department, Dr Shobana Partington.
We have always been proud of the positive impact our work in Food and Nutrition has had on helping make Manchester healthier. To strengthen this area even further, the department will become the Department of Health Professions, which will be led by the current Head of Department Julie Wright and will be part of the Faculty of Health, Psychology and Social Care.
