About the Lecturer:
Dr. Stephanie Dennison is Reader in Brazilian Studies in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Leeds. Her general field of expertise is Brazilian culture, but she specialises in the history of Brazilian cinema. She is also keenly interested in comparative studies of Brazilian and world cinemas, and of the representation of Brazil on screen by non-Brazilians. An author / co-author of eight books and twenty articles concerning varied aspects of Iberian and Brazilian culture, she is frequently invited to speak about Brazil at conferences in many different universities. Her current research considers the extent to which the current popularity of Brazilian culture is being translated into ‘soft power’.
Fee details:
There is no compulsory fee, but a voluntary contribution of £ 2.00 per lecture will be appreciated by the University. The lectures are part of the University’s Public Engagement Strategy for “bridging the Gap between MMU and the Public”, and all contributions will be donated to the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity
