Microbes, Monsters and Me: A talk by Professor Joanna Verran

Where: John Dalton Building

Joanna Verran is Professor of Microbiology at the Manchester Metropolitan University, as well as the Head of the School of Research, Enterprise and Innovation, and Head of Science Communication and Public Engagement. Professor Verran’s research interests include the interactions occurring between microorganisms and inert surfaces, and she is particularly interested in using art and literature to encourage science communication. She has received a National Teaching Fellow Award (2011) for this strategy.

This event is the third in a series of professoriate lectures, to be held over the coming months. These lectures are open to the public and are an excellent opportunity to hear from MMU's most distinguished academics in the fields of science and engineering.

Refreshments will be available from 18:00 in MMU's John Dalton building, with the talk beginning at 18:30. This will last around one hour and will include time for audience questions. The event will finish with a drinks reception and further discussion.

Attendance to this event is free of charge but tickets must be booked in advance at http://microbesandme.eventbrite.co.uk
