I am friendly, approachable and determined.
My out of work interests are my family and reading novels of all types. I enjoy listening to music, ranging from classical to heavy rock, depending on the mood I am in.
My teaching style could be summed up in the following three words: assess, assist, develop.
I really enjoy watching my students grow and develop, not only academically, but also as people. I find a great deal of satisfaction in playing a part in helping them to achieve their potential.
My approach to teaching and learning is to look at each person as an individual, to find out their strengths and weaknesses and help them to discover these as well. I then work with them on building on their strengths and developing those areas in which they are weak.
The one piece of advice that I always give to students is to be prepared to read widely. Use books and journals, whether hard copies or electronic versions. Don’t just rely on the internet for information.
My main research interests are in the areas of Green Politics, especially the links that exist between politics and religion. I’m also interested in the developments and changes that are taking place in the public services at the present time and how these will impact on the services that are going to be provided to the public.
