Why Manchester Met

I had been interested in law for a while before starting my degree, after discovering some interesting podcasts and being unsure what exactly to go into. I chose Manchester Met as it offered a part-time LLB which allowed me to start my studies after I had children. Studying in Manchester was convenient for me as I already lived here and did not need to travel far.

I decided to continue my studies at Manchester Met to progress to the next stage of becoming a qualified solicitor. This course was also available part-time and allows me to carry on with my career progression, which may not have been possible otherwise. The university also offered a great discount of fees for continuing to study here, which was a huge benefit.

I have been actively looking for a training contract but have been promoted twice in my current workplace due the skills I learned during my time at university.

Getting involved

During my studies I worked as a summer intern at the County Court Money Claims Centre and then worked with the probate courts issuing grants. This role was advertised by the university and provided me with valuable experience.

Support

During the course we had visits from our employability contact who was always available for drop-ins or via email. The course tutors are extremely knowledge and often had interesting stories from practise which helped understand how our learning related to practise.
