Why did you decide to study at Manchester Met University? What stood out to you?

I choose Manchester Met University after researching universities located in the North West of England. Based on rankings and student experience, including student activities that I saw on social media channels, Manchester Met came to my attention.

As I first applied to study Marketing as a major, I concluded that a university that had such quality marketing, that is so engaging, would put a lot of emphasis on their marketing degree pathway.

Why did you choose to study this specific subject area?

I choose to study BA (Hons) Finance and Accounting after a 5-week course that I completed during my Combined Honours Marketing and International Business degree. At that moment I realised that this is what excited me the most throughout the course and I decided to apply to it, even though it meant switching my degree pathway.

My biggest advice after such an experience would be, if you think that you have found what you are most passionate about, do not be afraid of switching your degree choice.

What parts of your course have you enjoyed so far?

The parts of the course that I enjoy the most are the events and guest lectures held by established employers and organisations in the field of study. These lectures and presentations are around careers perspectives and internship and/or placement opportunities available for students.

Also, the case studies that we deal with in each tutorial, to better understand a certain topic, are very engaging to me and help me to develop a sound business understanding.

What do you feel your university experience has taught you so far?

My university experience so far has taught me to not focus too much on theoretical material and instead to concentrate more on understanding the practical side of things and to implement theoretical concept into real life example. Every time I encounter a real-life problem where I can implement what I have learned, I do so.
