Studying in the UK offers real value for money for international students – and you'll find many sources of funding if you want to come to the UK to study.

And studying at MMU might cost less than you think, especially when you consider the quality of teaching here and the international status of our qualifications.

MMU, the UK government and other UK organisations offer a variety of scholarships and awards for international students at all levels.

Who should you approach?

It is probably best to start with your own government ministry or department of education, which will be able to give you information about any funding available.

Also, check the British Council, which has offices around the world and may have one in your own country where you will be able to find information about any relevant schemes.  If there is no British Council office local to you, try the British Embassy or High Commission.

How do you apply?

The UK is a popular destination for international students, so there is a lot of competition for scholarships. Many grant-making organisations have strict requirements that you must meet to be considered for an award, so read the conditions carefully.

Remember, you will need to

• apply for your grant at least one year before the start of your course and make sure you know any application deadlines
• fill in the application form clearly and concisely, using the grant-making body's application form.

When making your financial plans, be aware that scholarships and awards are usually only small amounts of money that will not cover the full cost of tuition fees and living expenses. And remember you must make sure you have enough money  for your fees and living expenses – it is almost impossible to organise financial help once you are in the UK, and you may be refused entry to the UK without proof of sufficient funds.
