Listening and responding to our students’ views and opinions is a key part of ensuring quality in teaching and learning at Manchester Met.
The Internal Student Survey (ISS) runs twice a year and is one way you can tell us what is great about your units and course, as well as what you would like to see improved.
Complete the survey for a chance of winning an iPad.
The survey will run from Wednesday 23 November to Tuesday 6 December 2016.
Once the survey is open, all eligible students will be able to access and complete the survey online through MyMMU. It should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete.
Student feedback is reviewed by programme teams, who include it in action plans. The aim is to improve students’ experience on their courses and to share examples of good practice which students tell us are working well.
Students are also involved in addressing feedback, for example through attending Staff-Student Liaison Committees/Forums and Course Rep Membership of Programme Committees.
Student feedback has influenced many changes across the University. Here are a few examples:
The Autumn 2016 Internal Student Survey will take place between Wednesday 23 November and Tuesday 6 December.
The Internal Student Survey is open to all students currently enrolled on taught campus-based programmes (undergraduate and postgraduate). However, students who are repeating without attendance will not be eligible, and a small number of courses and units have an approved exemption from the survey.
Using your Manchester Met ID and password, you can log into MyMMU using any device (e.g. PC, Mac, laptop, tablet, smart phone) and from there you can access the survey. The survey will adapt to display correctly on the device you are using. If you have any problems accessing or completing the survey, please contact your Student Hub.
Please note that you will only be able to access the survey questionnaire once, and that one occasion is your opportunity to give your views on your course and units. It will not be possible to comment on some units, save the questionnaire and return to complete it later.
No, the survey is only available via the MyMMU web portal.
The survey should not take longer than 10 minutes to complete.
If you are not eligible, you can still give your views on your course and units in a number of other ways. You could speak with your unit tutor or programme leader directly, or you could contact your Student Course Representative. Alternatively, ask your programme leader when the next Staff Student Liaison Committee (or equivalent) meeting will be held – all students are normally entitled to attend these meetings
The Internal Student Survey will cover your units and the course as a whole. There will be a mixture of questions asking you to either give scores or comments. Those marked with an asterisk below indicate where you can provide free text responses; the other questions use a five-point response scale ranging from ‘definitely disagree’ to ‘definitely agree’.

Your responses will be used to inform the University’s quality improvement processes and research into the student experience. Full details of how your response data will be used are available when you access the survey on MyMMU.
