Wi-Fi at Manchester Metropolitan University

For Wi-Fi access throughout the University - and beyond - connect to eduroam.

Eduroam for Manchester Met students and staff

eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, international wireless service that is available to all staff and students at Manchester Metropolitan University.

As well as being available at institutions around the world, eduroam can also be used at Manchester Metropolitan University wherever the ‘eduroam’ wireless network is available.

eduroam is particularly convenient for smart phone and tablet users. Using eduroam, you don't need to type in your username and password every time you access the network. You only need to set up your device once, and then you can log in automatically wherever the eduroam network is available.

This means you can get on to Moodle, MyMMU, your email and the Library's collection of online journals and databases from a range of colleges and universities, not just in the UK, but from around the world.

All you need to do is set up your preferred device to connect to the eduroam network and, where prompted, enter the following information:

Students

  • Username: your University ID number followed by '@stu.mmu.ac.uk', eg, 9991111@stu.mmu.ac.uk
  • Password: your University network password

Staff

  • Username: your University ID number followed by '@ad.mmu.ac.uk', eg, 9991111@ad.mmu.ac.uk
  • Password: your University network password

You are also advised to keep your anti-virus software up to date.

Eduroam for students and colleagues from other academic institutions

eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming wireless access service developed for the international research and education community.

It allows users to visit other organisations and use the same username and password as they would use at their home institution.

eduroam institutions span much of the world including Europe, Asia-Pacific, Canada and the USA.

Manchester Metropolitan University eduroam operates a compliant service per the eduroam UK technical specification.

IT Services is unable to provide technical support to non-Manchester Metropolitan University eduroam users at the Campus.

For more information about eduroam, have a look at eduroam.org and the JANET eduroam page.
