Citizen 32 Poetry Showcase

Censorship, Race, Sexuality, Home/Homelessness, Class, War and Peace. Back in the early 2000s radical poetry and arts magazine Citizen 32 platformed marginalised writers so they could discuss topics & issues that continue to sear through our public and private lives today. Earlier this year founding editor John G Hall continued his efforts to raise voices ignored by the mainstream through a series of creative writing workshops based on the magazine.

This event is a showcase of some of the work produced in the workshops and a reflection on the period documented. John G Hall will open the event with a short history of Citizen 32.

So come along to Manchester Poetry Library for an evening of exhilarating writing. Plus learn more about our 2-year heritage project Hard Pressed exploring the work of Manchester’s small presses, 1975-2010.

About John G Hall

John G.Hall was founding editor of radical arts magazine Citizen32 &a political activist in the 1980’s. He has a degree in English Literature & Creative Writing from the University of Salford as well as several poetry collections published here and in the USA. He organises a local community poetry workshop in Wythenshawe and also runs an annual writers retreat on the Isle of Arran, Scotland.
