The Future of ACCA

Manchester Met Business School in partnership with ACCA, are hosting an informative session that will detail changes to the ACCA qualification, with a specific focus on the Strategic Business Leader examination and the Professional and the Ethics and Professional Skills Module.

The session, open to ACCA providers and students, will cover:

• How the changes impact students and providers
• The objectives for the changes and how they benefit will ACCA students
• The timeline for the implementation of changes
• Options in relation to sitting papers
• Sources of information for support in preparing for the Strategic Business Leader case study

• 6.00pm - Welcome and Introduction from Yvonne Rennison, Head of Business and Public Engagement, Manchester Metropolitan University Business School
• 6.10pm - Presentation by Gareth Owen, Qualifications Development Manager, ACCA on 'The Future of ACCA' - The presentation will cover the background to the significant changes to the ACCA qualification, including drivers for change, research findings and more detail on the specific changes being introduced in September 2018. The presentation will include information about and short videos featuring the Strategic Business Leader case study examination and the new Ethics and Professional Skills module, to be first introduced in October 2017.

The Speakers

Gareth Owen - Gareth is the Qualifications Development at ACCA and has had a long career in education and learning. His main responsibilities at ACCA are to manage and work with technical experts and associates on developing the curriculum content of the ACCA and Foundations level qualifications; including the development and maintenance of the technical contents of the ethics and experience components and the ACCA Competency Framework.

Jonathan Maddams - Jonathan is a Business Development Manager for Education Europe & Americas at the ACCA, and has had a long career in Graduate Recruitment, Education and Business Development.

His main responsibilities at the ACCA are to manage key partnerships with leading Universities, Approved Learning Providers and colleges across the UK. Supporting both students and academic staff, and acting as the main point of contact and support with the ACCA.
