Graduate turned entrepreneur recalls Manchester experience

Sibtain Jiwani was an Alumni Awards 2017 finalist

Business Information Technology graduate Sibtain Jiwani was named a finalist in the Entrepreneurial category at the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Awards 2017. The former Students’ Union President graduated in 2007 and went on to establish SmartChoice.pk – a market-leading price comparison website in his native country Pakistan.

The British Council invited Sibtain to the UK from Pakistan to hear about his experiences of studying at Manchester Metropolitan University. You can see the video below of Sibtain talking about his love of Manchester, the skills he developed whilst at university and the life-changing journey he experienced to help him on his entrepreneurial journey to be CEO of SmartChoice.

The Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of alumni and demonstrate the value of a UK higher education. Like Sibtain, finalists and award winners are leaders in their fields who have taken their experience of studying in the UK to make a positive impact to their communities and professions.

If you live outside the UK, have studied in the UK and gone on to achieve exceptional success you can apply for the 2017-18 Awards. Applications are now open and close on 2nd October. To find out more and to apply, visit www.britishcouncil.org/education-uk-awards.
