Two University alumni have been named as national-level finalists in their respective countries in the British Council’s Study UK Alumni Awards. Ghada Ghaznawi is a finalist in Saudi Arabia and Ee Von Teo has been shortlisted in the Malaysian awards.

Ghada Ghaznawi studied an MSc in Financial Management and is the Co Founder and Managing Director of her own company in Saudi Arabia, Altaswouq Alamen Est. As part of the company Ghada has founded Exclusave, which has the clear mission to become the main benefits programme and discount card in Saudi Arabia. Ghada’s vision is for Exclusave to increase public awareness about positive financial habits, and has helped over 10,000 customers save on all aspects of day-to-day life.

Ee Von Teo’s legal career started after she completed her Bar Vocational Course in 2006 at the University. She is now a Partner for Wong & Partners, who are a member firm of the multinational law firm Baker McKenzie. Miss Teo’s work as a Mergers and Acquisitions lawyer has seen her involved in high-profile and highly complex corporate transactions, advising clients across various industries. As well as being shortlisted for the Alumni Awards, Miss Teo was recently shortlisted as a Rising Star by Euromoney’s Asia Women in Business Awards 2017.

The Alumni Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of international alumni and demonstrate the value and impact of a UK higher education. Our two finalists will see if they are national winners at award ceremonies in February, with regional and global awards ceremonies taking place in March and April this year.

This year we had a record number of Manchester Metropolitan alumni apply for the awards, and follows on from Business Information Technology graduate Sibtain Jiwani being named a finalist last year.
