Sustainability, legal geographies and the environment are rapidly developing and diverse areas of our research. 

Our specialisms include:

  • new ways to solve transnational border disputes and spatial considerations

  • the legality of quasi-autonomous zones within existing municipal and state jurisdictions

  • using commercial property transactions to shape urban and suburban regeneration

  • urban regeneration

  • urban squats

  • the overall relationship between place and law

Using legal geography as a methodology underpins our research, and is emerging as a distinguishing feature of our work.

The Institute of Place Management

Our researchers have very close relationships with the world-renowned Institute of Place Management (IPM). We contribute to the IPM through our interdisciplinary work on:

  • international border disputes

  • commercial property law
