The inaugural Greater Manchester mayoral election will be held on 4 May 2017 to elect the Mayor of Greater Manchester. The voting system for the election is currently unknown whether first-past-the-post or a supplementary vote, like in London. Manchester Metropolitan University, in partnership with Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Small Businesses and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales are hosting an easy-to-understand hustings event, designed to give you key campaign points from each candidate with an opportunities for questions and debate.

6.00pm – 6.30pm – Arrival and Refreshments, vote on the mayoral candidate
6.30pm – 6.35pm – Welcome and Introduction from Professor Malcolm Press, Vice Chancellor of Manchester Metropolitan University
6.35pm – 6.40pm – Jonathan Lawson, Manchester Metropolitan University, Introduction and explanation of event agenda
6.40pm – 7.00pm – Candidate address and presentations from each party, compered by Jonathan Lawson (5mins pitch per candidate):

• Conservative – Sean Anstee
• English Democrat – Stephen Morris
• Green - Will Patterson
• Labour – Andy Burnham
• Liberal Democrat – Jane Brophy
• UKIP – Shneur Odze


7.00pm – 7.50pm – Questions and answers from the floor, opening with questions from event partners, as representatives of their membership organisations (FSB, GMCC and ICAEW)

7.50pm – 8.00pm – Event close, final vote and continued discussion and networking over refreshments in atrium
