A mother (of one), keen body combat enthousiast, amateur crochetter and painter (oil and sometimes acrylics). External roles include being the Theme panel Lead at the British Physiological Society (Human Environmental and Exercise Physiology). My research papers cover postural balance in ageing, optimising exercise protocols, habitual physical activity/sedentary behaviour impact on frailty. My research has informed a number of national and international policies including the recent (2019 release) of the Exercise Recommendations for Older Adults by the UK Chief Medical Officers.
I'm keen to increase capacity in research into the response of the muscle-tendon unit to ageing, lifestyle manipulations (including exercise and diet), and hormonal stimuli.
I will utilise my larger research and professional network to inform the content/focus/depth of teaching sessions and hope to get you involved through discussions and laboratory sessions directly aligned with each of the seminar sessions.
