Biography

Daniel joined MMU in 2021, having previously taught criminology and criminal justice at several UK universities and internationally. After completing an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering, he worked as a police officer for 6 years. Alongside this, he studied BSc Criminology and Psychology at Teesside University, going on to complete an MA Criminological Research at the Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, University of Leeds. Daniel was awarded a competitive ESRC scholarship to undertake doctoral research at the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge. His Ph.D. was an in-depth case study of practitioners in youth justice and involved empirical research in a Youth Offending Service in England. Daniel was further awarded a competitive funded ESRC internship with the UK Ministry of Justice. He has founded, led and advised several international organisations working in criminal justice and with young people.

Daniel is currently a visiting scholar at the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge; an associate at African Institute for Crime, Policy and Governance Research; Chair of Trustees at The Seaver Foundation; a fellow of the Higher Education Academy; and an associate at Enterprise Educators UK.
