Research outputs

My research and practice interests stem largely from my professional experiences in the UK and the USA and discussions with managers and practitioners who are seeking to improve their services. They focus on marginalised groups of people who additionally use alcohol and other drugs.

Currently my work focusses on palliative and end of life care for people using substances as well as on substance use and culturally appropriate responses within minority communities. My research and teaching has also focussed on domestic and sexual abuse, child to parent violence, substance use and mental ill health.

My early research work focussed on substance use in social work education and practice and on developing guidance for the social work curriculum.
