My profile

Biography

I am a Post Graduate Research Assistant (PGRA) and PhD student within the Substance Use and Associated Behaviours (SUAB) research group at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I also gained my BA (Hons) Sociology and MA in Criminology.

My research interests include the experiences and narratives of people who use substances in relation to national drug policy and local service provision, the use of drug laws to police marginalised communities, media and academic prohibition rhetoric, as well as the social and cultural evolution of attitudes to drug policy.

In my role as a PGRA, I work on diverse projects that include the use of Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs (IPEDs), emerging and evolving drug trends, and young people’s substance use. My PhD uses ethnographic methods to explore the lived experience of people who use cannabis for medical, functional or recreational reasons.
