David is a Senior Lecturer in Product Design at MMU. Prior to his lecturing career David was a practicing Product Designer and Design Manager working with companies ranging from specialist plastics manufacturers to international automotive manufactures.
David also set up and ran a successful Industrial Design consultancy for several years specialising in plastic injection moulded household products for a number of established and widely recognised brands/companies.
During his career in industry David was actively involved in collaborating with educational partners, which led him to develop his professional career as a lecturer teaching Product/Engineering Design and Design Education.
David teaches across all aspects of the Product and Engineering Design programmes with a particularly strong emphasis on concept thinking, idea generation, sketching, prototyping, ergonomics, product user interface, environmental issues, material and manufacturing methods and techniques.
David is a strong believer in providing students with the best possible learning experience to ensure they develop and achieve their maximum potential as fully rounded problem solvers ready for successful careers in design and engineering.
