Strategic Planning

The Strategic Planning team sits within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Strategic Planning and Research.

What we do

The team are responsible for a number of core functions which assist the conduct of internal University operations and its relationship with external bodies within the HE sector.

Planning, Performance and Risk

  • Co-ordination and support for the strategic planning process for Faculties and Services
  • Development and maintenance of performance monitoring and benchmarking processes using institutional and sector performance indicators
  • Co-ordination and support for institutional risk management
  • Student admissions and recruitment analysis
  • Student number projections
  • Competitor analysis
  • Environment scanning - analysing the implications of changes in HE policy environment
  • Assist the institutional development of improved management information solutions - Analytics
  • Stakeholder Relationship Management (monitoring of consultation documents and response requirements)
  • Development, implementation, monitoring, review of guidance, templates and timescales

Data Management

  • Management of statutory data returns including HESA Student and HESES returns
  • Liaison with LRT and Management Services Groups in resolving ongoing student data quality issues
  • Responding to internal and external student data requests, including Freedom of Information requests
  • Interpretation and use of data from multiple sources, including Finance, HR, Research and Knowledge Exchange, Services Division
